For more than 20 years, Hans Van Tartwijk has been working in the real estate development and investment industry. The former president of development company T&vT in Amsterdam, he serves as a partner at Princeton Property Partners. An avid soccer fan, Hans Van Tartwijk enjoys watching and attending soccer games. One of his favorite players of all time is Johan Cruyff.
Born in Amsterdam on April 25, 1947, Johan Cruyff grew up loving to play soccer and joined Ajax youth at the age of 10. By 1964 he had worked his way up to the senior Ajax team, where he excelled under the total football strategy of manager Rinus Michels. The strategy had players move between different positions and Cruyff’s speed and ability allowed him to easily handle any position. He was a main goal scorer for the team and helped it win three European Cups and six Dutch championships between 1966 and 1973. Cruyff’s talent also earned him the Ballon d’Or Award as European Footballer of the Year in 1971. He was the first Dutch player to win the award.
In 1973, Johan Cruyff transferred to FC Barcelona. He led the team to a 5-0 record on the way to a league title and earned his second Ballon d’Or Award during his first season, followed by his third award the following year. Although Cruyff announced his retirement from soccer in 1978, he continued playing in the United States. During the 1979-80 season, he played with the Los Angeles Aztecs and in the following season he played with the Washington Diplomats. He spent a season with the Spanish club Levante UD, during which he suffered several injuries, and eventually finished his career with another three seasons in the Netherlands, one with Feyenoord and two with Ajax.
